My Story
My name is Otto A. Nájera. I began designing at an early age, gaining experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. What started as a hobby soon became my passion and full-time profession. I have worked with high-profile clients, including Prince William County, Washington Dulles International Airport, South African Airways, and LATAM Airlines, as well as small businesses and startups. My past projects span brand identity, editorial design, advertising, web design, typography, packaging, infographics, environmental design, and illustration. I have experience working remotely with little to no supervision and in a business environment.
From Graphic Design to UX|UI
In recent years, I transitioned my focus from graphic design to UX architecture and UI design. I made this shift because I’ve always been drawn to pixels. From the start of my career, I have been fascinated by how users interact with different screens and environments to achieve their goals. This curiosity led me to experiment with HTML and CSS, developing websites for my clients. In 2022, I earned my UX/UI certificate to gain formal education in the field.
The meaning behind my brand
My personal monogram is a toggle button shaped into my initials, O.N. The bird, inspired by Mesoamerican hieroglyphs, symbolizes a new beginning as I transition from Graphic Design to UX/UI. In the logotype, the 'J' in Najera is designed to appear as both lowercase and uppercase, visually linking my first and last name.
Let's Get Personal
When I'm not designing or learning new skills, I love traveling to new countries to explore their culture and history, drawing inspiration for my designs. My other hobbies include fashion, video games, discovering new TV series, and tinkering around the house—sometimes fixing things, sometimes breaking them.
